Police said they are searching for two home intruders who shot a man in Kinston on Christmas Eve.
According to investigators, two men wearing masks forced themselves into a home at 1509 Stroud Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. The intruders then shot a 42-year-old man inside, hitting him in the right shin, police said.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, before being transferred to Vidant Medical Center, said investigators. His identity has not been released.
A neighbor of the victim, David Gooding, said he's surprised something like this would happen to him.
"He seemed like a nice guy nobody had problems with him that I know of. It's a shock to me that somebody would come over and do this to him," Gooding said.
Police said they are still looking for the two intruders. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kinston Department of Public Safety tips line at 252-939-4020.
