Jack Saylor Named 2013 Big Rock Tournament Artist
The Big Rock Board of Directors is pleased to announce that famed artist Jack Saylor will represent the 55th Annual Big Rock Tournament held June 7-15, 2013.
As the official Big Rock artist, Jack will donate a work of art which will be auctioned during the Awards Banquet held June 15, 2013.
All proceeds from the auction are donated to local and state charities. For now, the specific art to be donated is a surprise but his past efforts ensure it will be outstanding.
Jack will also have other items on display and for purchase at all events and during the week of the tournament.
“I am thrilled to have been selected as the featured artist of this year’s Big Rock”, commented artist Jack Saylor. “Over the years I have not only enjoyed the excitement of this world class fishing tournament, but have come to truly appreciate the enormous support The Big Rock tournament and its amazing group of dedicated board members and staff contribute to the local community each and every year. I am honored to be part of this extraordinary event.”
North Carolina artist Jack Saylor's passion for the sea goes back to his early childhood and the family vacations to Atlantic Beach.
It was at the beach that he would take pencil to paper and draw the scenes around him as a way of preserving deep sea fishing trips and the seaside experience.
Jack has studied extensively in Europe developing centuries old techniques and studio practices. Living in Florence afforded Jack the opportunity to study intensely the art of Northern and Western Europe particularly the Italian Renaissance and Dutch 17th Century periods.
His art appropriately reflects his time spent in the Florentine master’s studio.
“We are overjoyed to have Jack as the 55th Annual official artist” stated Crystal Hesmer, Tournament Director. “His work is so realistic and amazing, I know Big Rock participants will be thrilled”, she continued.
Jack Saylor's work is extensively held in private and corporate collections throughout the country. He has received regional and national awards for his work and has participated in numerous exhibitions and solo shows.
The sea is a lifelong passion for Jack who now resides in Morehead City with his wife, Ann. For more information regarding Jack’s art, please visit www.jacksaylor.com.
