Pirates' furious comeback not enough, Ragin' Cajuns win in New Orleans Bowl

The University of Louisiana-Lafayette defeated ECU 43-34 in Saturday's New Orleans Bowl, despite the Pirates coming back from 21 points down to tie the game in the third quarter.
Ragin' Cajuns sophomore quarterback Terrance Broadway passed for 316 yards and ran for 108, including running 12 yards to score a touchdown at 8:10 in the first quarter. ECU could not score in the first period and ULL was up 7-0.
In the next quarter, the Ragin' Cajuns continued their scoring ways. Senior WR Harry Peoples scored a touchdown 43 seconds into the second period. But ECU senior running back Reggie Bullock (99 yds., 2 TDs) responded, running five yards to score a TD. The Pirates were down 7-14 at that point. Then, Ragin' Cajuns sophomore running back Alonzo Harris (117 yds., 2 TDs) scored two more touchdowns, bringing his team up 28-7.
But the Pirates kept pace, scoring two more touchdowns of their own. Sophomore quarterback Shane Carden (278 yds., 2 TDs) threw TD passes to sophomore WR Justin Hardy (59 yds., 1 TD) and sophomore WR Danny Webster (42 yds., 1 TD). Despite ECU's efforts, ULL was still up 31-21 at halftime, thanks to a 50-yard field goal by Ragin' Cajuns' senior kicker Brett Baer.
In the third quarter, ECU sophomore kicker Warren Harvey kicked a 45-yd. field goal and Bullock ran 13 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 31-31. But ULL senior WR Javone Lawson (71 yds., 1 TD) caught a 14-yard pass from Broadwell for a touchdown, and the Ragin' Cajuns were up 37-31 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, neither team got a touchdown. ECU's Harvey did score a 26-yard field goal. But the Ragin' Cajuns scored two more field goals to pull away, 43-34.
ECU finished the season at 8-5 while the University of Lousiana-Lafayette became 9-4.
