Week 5 brought us the first night of conference action for most of our area teams.

Washington at Jacksonville

In Jacksonville the Cardinals hosted Washington in a matchup of 3-1 teams.

Jacksonville has already won two games by a score of 7-6 this year.

Washington's only loss was to unbeaten Tarboro.

Something had to give and it was the Jacksonville defense.

On their first drive the Pam Pack hit a long TD pass to take a 7-0 lead.

By the midway point of the second quarter they had a 21-0 lead.

The second half went by quickly as Washington was happy to run out the clock and Jacksonville could not keep the ball for long drives.

A blocked field goal put the capper on it and the Pam Pack wins big 35-0.

Havelock at White Oak

The Rams continued to show their offensive power by getting out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter over the Vikings.

Taylor Woods had a rushing TD in the first quarter and Pharoh Cooper hit A.J. Coplon for an 83 yard TD to make it 21-0 on the way to a 48-7 win and a 4-1 record.

Croatan at Swansboro

A scoreless game through three quarters turned into a thriller in the "Friendly City By The Sea".

Chris Martin had a TD carry to open up the scoring for Swansboro to make it 6-0.

Then Kyle Hopewell would throw a pass to Beau Bryan to set up a Mitchell Smith touchdown.

Smith would have both TD's for the Cougars and they would win it in overtime by a final score of 14-13.

Northside-JAX at Topsail

Dwayne Johnson scored two TD's in the first half to pace the Monarchs to a 35-10 victory over Topsail to complete the first half of the season undefeated.

West Carteret at South Central

Jared Carr was able to lead his team through the South Central defense and a power outage to secure a 26-7 victory to take the Patriots to 4-1 at the midway point of their season.

DH Conley at West Craven

DH Conley had no problem with the Eagles as they cruised to a 39-8 win to stay undefeated.

SW Edgecombe at Kinston

Kinston trying to bounce back from a tough loss at Havelock last week by hosting SW Edgecombe.

The Cougars would recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff to set the tone.

A QB sneak would give them an early 6-0 lead.

VeQuain Joyner hit Denzel Keys for  a 40 yard TD but Kinston would end up falling short in a high scoring affair.

Southwest takes it 56-49.

Pamlico at Ayden-Grifton

Tyree Blount had 4 TD's in a big win for the Chargers over Pamlico 38-6.
