Week 7: Bears Beat Cats In Battle Of Unbeatens

NEW BERN -

The New Bern Bears took the trip to Wilmington to take on New Hanover.

The last four winners of this game have gone on to represent the area in the Eastern Finals.

New Bern would beat the Wildcats 63-34 behind a rushing touchdown by QB Josh Taylor.

New Bern Sophomore Mike Hughes picked off a pass and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown.

Bra'lon Cherry had a touchdown catch from Taylor to seal it for the Bears.

JH Rose 41  Ashley 20

JH Rose QB Khalil Smith had a big night completing passes to various receivers including Kwan Hart for a touchdown in a 41-20 win.

Ricardo Hardison also had a big catch for the Rampants.

Kevin Phillips did the rest on the ground with a touchdown run.

Eric Smith pitched in with a fumble return for a TD.

SW Onslow 48  Dixon 19

Shak Pershey was dangerous in the air and on the ground for the Stallions in their 48-19 win.

Pershey hit Jide Brown to set up a DaMonta Winbush touchdown.

Later in the game Pershey woudl connect with Jevon Walker for a TD to put it away for SW Onslow.

Jacksonville 3  West Carteret 0

The Jacksonville Defense did it's job again by throwing a shutout against the Patriots winning 3-0.

A field goal in the second half was all the scoring the Cardinals would need.

It is the third game this season Jacksonville has held an opponent to less than 7 points.

East Carteret 25  Pamlico 46

The Hurricanes got their first win of the year 46-25 over the Mariners with some explosive offense that was highlighted by a long TD pass from Naquan Gibbs to DJ Lewis. 

They would also connect on a two point conversion to give Pamlico it's first W in 2012.

Croatan 13  Northside-JAX 41

Josh Cabrera had a 63 yard punt return for a touchdown to spark the Monarchs 41-13 victory over the Cougars and stay undefeated both in conference and season play.

East Duplin 29  Richlands 12

Dijon Poole led the offense for the Panthers in a bit easier win than they had last week. 

Flavian Laporte also had a big game with a long return that helped flip the field position battle in favor of East Duplin.

Trask 0  Wallace-Rose Hill 38

When the Bulldogs finally broke through it made the scored board very lopsided with a 38-0 victory over the Titans.

A big run by Jhonta Wilson got the crowd into the game and Wallace-Rose Hill never looked back.

Pender 20  James Kenan 40

James Kenan used a 90 yard kickoff return from Marcillas Sutton and a great catch by TJ Fullwood to double up the Patriots 40-20.

Tarboro 47  Greene Central 16

The Vikings used a big play from Joseph Biggs and a 69 yard run from Radia Bobbitt to beat the Rams 47-16 and stay undefeated.

Plymouth 46  Southside 0

Sharmontez Ferebee led the Vikings in a huge victory over the Seahawks 46-0. 

Ferebee hit Deandre Phelps for a big gain and Quadre Pettiford finished off that drive with a touchdown run.

Ferebee and Phelps would eventually hook up for a touchdown of their own.

White Oak 7  DH Conley 63

The Vikings got touchdowns from Johnathan Shrock, Jiomni House, Walker Cummings, and Maleek Gorham in a blowour win over White Oak 63-7.

Farmville 14  Kinston 42

The Jaguars Tied the game early in the third quarter before the Vikings put the foot on the gas and won it 42-14.

George Jones three second half TDs were the difference in the game.

Havelock 34  Washington 7

The Rams would get another big night from Pharoh Cooper to remain undefeated with a 34-7 victory over the Pam Pack.

Derrell Scott would add a rushing touchdown late in the game.

West Craven 26  South Central 14

Alkeim Harley, Andrew Reid and Andre Cox scored in the first half and Kenny McDaniel put the game away with a touchdown catch with 1:50 remaining in the game to give west Craven a 26-14 victory.
